Hyundai Autron & Wind River tie up on next-gen vehicle s/w development

The Seoul based- Hyundai Autron has reportedly collaborated with software development giant- Wind river to develop a software connectivity platform for next-gen automobiles. For the record, Hyundai Autron - a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Group is a leading R&D firm focusing on automotive semiconductors and electronic control software. Dae Heung Moon, CEO, Hyundai Autron was reportedly quoted stating that with the partnership of Autron and Wind, the company's AUTOSAR platform will be the technological epicenter to assist future intelligent automobiles. Hyundai Autron focuses on providing safe and reliable services to the affiliates of Hyundai Motor Group as well as the customers, he further added. Reportedly, the collaboration will allow the companies to exercise their specialization and experience to develop a high quality platform for AUTOSAR and functional safety for next gen driving and connectivity for markets worldwide. Citing reports, Hyundai Autron and Wind River will work on development environment, intellectual property, functional safety certifications and deliverables. Further, the companies will develop an infrastructure software for next gen vehicle control including over the air (OTA) update technology. Marques McCammon, Vice president of Automotive at Wind River reportedly stated that together, the companies aim at providing safe and reliable software to assist the car manufacturers speed up innovation and ensure success in the future. Apparently, with the development in cars over the time, rapid growth pace of autonomous driving market, and advancement in vehicle- to- infrastructure (V2X) technology, Hyundai Motor Group has been focusing on the core technologies in order to work towards the future of automation. As per industry experts, Autron's automotive software technology will facilitate car manufacturers to stay competitive and contribute to the company's global status.
