Google to infuse $10bn to build offices & data centers in the U.S.

Global tech giant, Google LLC has revealed plans to expand its footprint in the U.S. this year by investing over $10 billion for developing offices and data centers. Apart from strengthening its roots in the country, this investment would focus on creating more job opportunities for Americans.

According to Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, the company has a presence in over half of the US states, but it intends to target 11 states, namely Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Oklahoma, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, California and Washington, with this new investment.

Reportedly, the funding would generate thousands of new jobs ranging from new opportunities for local businesses as well as roles within Google. Taking Atlanta as an example, the tech giant plans to introduce new engineering teams, whereas, in Ohio, it intends to open a new data center.

Meanwhile,the Hudson Square campusofGoogleis anticipated to commence operation by 2020 in NYC, enabling the firm to multiply its local workforce by 2028.

In other news, Google reportedly made attempts to revive its relationship with Huawei as it requests the U.S. government an exemption to re-license its mobile services.

It is a known fact that Huawei is currently on the US entities list, barring it from accessing the countryâ€™s technologies and data, including Google Mobile Services. However, Microsoft has managed to bag an exemption from the White House, allowing it to work with Huawei.

If Google is successful to gain a similar nod from Washington, Huawei can quickly update its present models with Google Mobile Services, allowing Huawei Android smartphones to run services and apps like Maps, Play Store, YouTube, Gmail, and Photos.

For now, Huawei is running its own Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) as a substitute for GMS, however, HMS is not a match for GMS and is said to be limited.

Meanwhile, few users still prefer to sideload Google Services on their Huawei phones. Evidently, Google has issued a warning against it, explaining that it could allow potential hackers to compromise consumerâ€™s phones by creating fake Google apps.
