Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has reportedly been awarded a USD 2 billion contract with the NSA (National Security Agency) for a period of 10 years. Under the contract, HPE will deliver its HPC (high-performance computing) tech in the form of a service via the HPE GreenLake platform.
The new partnership will allow the NSA to efficiently utilize rapidly growing data and AI needs to create information, analysis as well as forecasting with maximum performance. The HPE GreenLake platform offers fully secure, managed on-premises cloud services. By using HPC solutions through this platform, the NSA will benefit from a flexible as well as a secure platform to cater to their increasing demand for data management.
Justin Hotard, the General Manager and Senior Vice President of Mission Critical Solutions (MCS) and HPC at HPE, expressed that the implementation of machine learning, artificial intelligence along with analytics on massive data sets increasingly needs HPC systems.
He added that consumers are showing preference for HPC systems in combination with simple and easy management for most of their data-intensive projects. By utilizing the HPE GreenLake platform, which brings secure on-premises solutions in the form of a service, the NSA is obtaining top-level HPC solutions to cater to a variety of complex data needs, but with a service-like experience.
The new service comprises a combination of HPE ProLiant servers and HPE Apollo systems, which take in and process huge volumes of data and support artificial intelligence as well as deep learning capabilities. HPE will develop and manage the entire solution as part of the HPE GreenLake service. It will be hosted at a QTS data center, a hosting facility that provides compliant, secure data center infrastructure along with robust connectivity to bolster operational scaling.
The new HPE GreenLake service will commence its operations starting in 2022.
