Karamba Security, a leading provider of embedded security for connected devices, and Winbond Electronics Corporation, a global supplier of semiconductor memory solutions, have reportedly announced the launch of unmatched automotive cybersecurity solution through their collaborative effort.
The XGuard™ software of Karamba has already been identified as a popular name in the IoT and automotive markets, allowing customers to follow the new UN R155 regulation, prevent, and detect cyber-attacks on the device without changing the validation and R&D processes.
Meanwhile, the new TrustME® W77Q by Winbond expands the capacity of flash memory to 128 Mb while maintaining the reliability of hardware as well as encrypted, secure, data transfer and data storage capabilities.
The combined solution of Winbond and Karamba upscales cybersecurity protection by maintaining system integrity even in case of an ECU breach. Users will benefit from secured OTA updates without needing to invest resources into expensive OTA secure channels. This is possible due to Karamba's CFI (Control Flow Integrity) validation, and XGuard whitelist verification along with Winbond's W77Q secure channel.
The Winbond-Karamba solution provides deterministic integrity checks, from overall supply chain development starting from the silicon Fab, through the deployment in the manufacturing plant of customers, to runtime without customers needing to change their manufacturing or development processes.
According to Assaf Harel, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist at Karamba Security, enabling the secure Over-The-Air update allows automotive customers to cater to the UN R155 and R156 along with the new security regulations ISO21434 without having to make expensive changes to supply chain or R&D processes.
Talking about the collaboration, Ilia Stolov, Winbond Secure Flash’s Technology Head, cited that the combined solution with Karamba Security will offer a comprehensive secured environment for consumer applications that cater to the strict automotive security and safety certifications needed by the industry.
For the record, Karamba Security is a global leader in endpoint security for connected devices.
