Apparently, AWS, the largest cloud computing provider, has been intruding on many of the customers, including in historical stronghold of Oracle in the database industry. The American multinational technology company Microsoft Corporation and Oracle Corporation has reportedly announced that both the companies have signed a deal to work together with high-speed links between their data centers, aiming big business users and unifying against cloud computing leader Amazon Web Services (AWS). Reportedly, the high-speed link between the data centers of Oracle and Microsoft will start with the facilities in the eastern United States and expand to other regions. Both the companies will mutually work to allow the joint users log into the services from either enterprise with a single username and leverage tech support from either firm. The move comes after Microsoft and Oracle have been courting government customers and large businesses to consider moving computing tasks presently being handled in their own data centers to cloud providers. Scott Guthrie, Cloud Chief, Microsoft, reportedly stated that with the enterprise expertise of Oracle, the collaboration is an obvious choice for both the companies as they help their joint customers improve the migration of databases and enterprise applications to the public cloud. Microsoft had earlier signed an agreement with German software provider SAP and Adobe to make their services work better together. As per reliable sources, Oracle considers AWS as a major competitor in the database market.
