Samsung unveils innovative software capabilities to its PCIe Gen4 SSDs

With evolving technology, solid state drives are getting faster. Launch of newer SSDs and their evolution is gaining higher importance as companies seek faster and more efficient data storage capabilities in order to satisfy the rising demands of customers.
Samsung Electronics, the global leader in the advanced memory technology, reportedly announced that it integrated the latest of software innovations to its most advanced PCIe Gen4 SSD (solid state drive) series, unveiling a new standard in SSD performance.
Executive Vice President of Memory Solution Product & Development of Samsung Electronics, Kye Hyun Kyung stated that the company is combining breakthrough capacities and speeds along with revolutionary software solutions as the company accelerates its expansion across premium SSD market.
Hyun Kyung added that the company plans to introduce more innovation led by the company's most advanced i.e. sixth-generation V-NAND in helping to initiate greater growth across the global IT market.
The developments to the company's PCIe Gen4 SSDs include fail-in-place, V-NAND machine learning and virtualization technology.
FIP (fail-in-place) technology enables what Samsung is claiming to be never-dying SSD that would be maintaining normal operations even for the faults arising at chip level. For this achievement, the FIP technology identifies the faulty chip, then scans for any kind of data damage.
In a certain case where damage is found, the relocation of data is done on any working NAND chips onboard SSD which will be done by error-handling algorithm without affecting the drives stability and performance.
Samsung's SSD virtualization technology enables the storage space on PM1733 and PM1735 series to be subdivided into a total of 64 smaller SSDs, offering independent and virtual workspaces for a number of users. By using this software, providers of cloud storage can expand their services over a greater number of users by utilizing resources of the same amount for improved product competitiveness.

Samsung's V-NAND machine learning technology enables accurate prediction as well as verification of cell characteristics and identify any variation in the circuit patterns by using big data analytics. This gives superior data reliability as growing SSD speeds set a challenge in verifying and reading data through highly rapid voltage pulses.
The company has not specified any particular date for commercial availability of the SSDs.
