Sony unveils the all-new Xperia XZ3 - its first OLED-screen smartphone

Sony reportedly, for the first time, has used an OLED screen on a smartphone with the launch of its new flagship model, Xperia XZ3, featuring a 6-inch Quad HD+ resolution (2880 x 1440 pixels) display. Sources cite that the OLED display is derived from Sony's Bravia OLED TV technology and supports HDR, while SDR upsampling to near- HDR quality is handled by using advanced X-Reality.
Further from the sources, the flagship device also features a Dynamic Vibration System that provides the user haptic feedback while playing games, listening to music or watching movies. The S-Force Front Surround Sound stereo speakers in the XZ3 supports high-resolution audio playback including DSD. The device is also packed with Sony's trademark LDAC streaming protocol and DSEE-HX up-conversion engine, Google Cast and Bluetooth 5.
Supposedly powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor, this device has 3330mAh battery and will be preloaded with Android 9.0 (Pie), with a 64 GB storage that can support memory extension of up to 512 GB. Both, the 19 MP main camera and the 13 MP front camera are capable of shooting 4K HDR videos.
According to the sources, XZ3 has been loaded with predictive AI technologies, such as the 'side sense' feature which shows the most relevant apps used by just double tapping the sides. Another feature called the 'smart launch' automatically opens the camera if the phone is lifted in landscape mode.
The XZ3 apparently has a feature that allows creating 3D avatars of any object by directing the camera at it. Interestingly, the "Predictive Capture" feature available in the phone is a bigger deal, as it creates four images after predicting what the next pictures will be like by detecting movements and smiles, before even pressing the shutter button, claim sources familiar with the matter.
As per reports, the Sony XZ3 smartphone is water-resistant, has a glass and aluminum design, comes in four colors and will be starting at a price of £699. Though it will be available by the end of September, customers can pre-order it at present.
