French-based gaming company, Ubisoft recently announced the acquisition of a 75% stake in Kolibri Games, a leading mobile game developer. As per sources close to the matter, Ubisoft will reinforce its position in the mobile Idle games with the strategic deal. The transaction amount pertaining to the deal has not yet been disclosed by the companies. Berlin-based Kolibri Games is renowned for its 'idle' game works, particularly 'Idle Factory Tycoon' and 'Idle Miner Tycoon'. Out of these two, the latter recorded over 104 million downloads since its launch in 2016.The firm boasts of a talented team of around 100, which has contributed to enhancing the game with more than 160 content updates since its launch. With the recent deal, Kolibri's rich know-how in mobile games development and live services will be ceded to Ubisoft. Jean-Michel Detoc, Executive Director at Ubisoft Mobile said that the company is looking forward to expanding its idle games portfolio. He also brought into notice an option within the deal that will enable the company to eventually raise its stake in Kolibri to a hundred percent over the next 4 years. Jean-Michel was further quoted saying that the firm is strengthening its 'idlegames portfolio with the acquisition of one of the leaders in the segment, Kolibri Games, whose leading game Idle Miner Tycoon has matured progressively and has gained widespread popularity since its release. He remarked that the company is exhilarated to join the great and talented team of Kolibri, which is recognized for the longevity of their flagship title.
